BIM technology facilitates the design of LEED Platinum granite and glass unitized curtain wall building.

San Francisco Public Utility Commission

San Francisco, California

Description

This 12-story office building has 145,000 square feet of granite and glass unitized curtain wall. The scope includes the integration of photovoltaic panels, glass fin sunshades, and automatic blinds. One building elevation required cold-formed curtain wall units to achieve a concave facade. The ground floor is a point supported structural glass wall that includes pattern cut plate mullions and stainless steel patch fritting. The project is a LEED Platinum certified building. Benson also employed BIM on this project to model embedments, slab edges, steel anchors and the entire skin of the project.
